Back on Track

Mon Dec 14, 2009, 12:04 AM
Pheww... it's always the same with moving into a new apartment...
At first, everything's is super-stressful, then you've got no internet and no phone for about a month and finally, there's so much work with decorating and getting your life going... and because of those three reasons, I had to take a rather unvoluntarely break from dA.

But now everything's fine... The cats just love their new home. Especially Jezzy is doing so well, she has changed a lot in the last two months. She isn't the great diva anymore, but easy-going and quit cuddly.

I really hadn't had the chance to take a lot of pics, but I dug through all my photos from the last months and found some I want to share. :)

Jezzy has a Hair-do...

Wed Sep 2, 2009, 12:11 PM
My last journal entry was about bathing Jezzy and this one's going to be about Jezzys visit to the barber today :D

As I wrote, we were thinking about cropping her fur but decided to try a bath first. The good effect of the bath (her fur was soooooo fluffy again) didn't last long and so we decided last week, that it would be better to crop the fur. It wasn't that bad, but I was so sorry for her, when each time she came to cuddle I found another knot or another patch of fur, that seemed to have turned into felt over night.

So today was the day and the visit to the barber went as well as bathing her. She never hissed, growled or scratched any of us and she was rather curious and happy all the time. There was no hint of fear :) The barber, a really nice woman who owns a Norwegian Forest Cat, was really crazed about her :D

Now, we're back home and Jezzy seems to be a quite happy cat. She's really relaxed and purrs and just seems to enjoy herself. I'm really gald, but I miss her gorgeous fur... It will take three to four monts to grow back and now we can use the "furminator" brush right from the beginning so that it won't be that plushy and hard to handle - for her and us.

Jezzy takes a bath

Sun Aug 9, 2009, 8:26 AM
Jezzy is a very classy cat, she's a little diva and she likes to be pretty. So, unlike the boys (jack and lancelot) she usually enjoys grooming but we can't groom her enough. She has a very plushy fur for a Maine Coon and my boyfriend and I were thinking about cropping her fur for two reasons: It's to hot for her in the summer und her fur tends to mat.
Our breeder suggested bathing to get some of the fat (the fur of a Maine Coon is always a little bit greasy) out of her fur, so maybe it won't mat that much.

Today was the big day: Jezzy had her very first bath and most of the time she behaved like the lady she is :D She never tried to scratch us, good kitty.
She's now dry and fluffy and shiny again and she's sleeping right next to me :D So no hard feelings there

Here are some pictures, I'd like to share :D

Playing around with Macros

Journal Entry: Mon May 11, 2009, 2:44 PM
So, what have I gotten myself into?
I got a very cool, new and shiny macro lens (28mm) and I got no real clue what I am doing... sounds nuts? It sure feels nuts...

I'm now going to learn all I can about macro-photography and I'll try and try and try as long as I can handle the thing properly :D
My first real chance to try out the little treasure were visits to the "Blumeninsel Mainau" in Germany and "Seleger Moor" in Switzerland. As I'm really interested in the whole nature photography, these were the ideal playgrounds.

I'm afraid there will be some flower and butterfly pics in the next weeks.... :D

Well, it's done: my three years of apprenticeship are finally over and I got the part time job (80%) I wanted.

I got a new residence permit, new credit cards and more time :D
Now, I'm free to do some workshops at a school for photography and I'm much much looking foward to it.

Life's pretty good at the moment.
